The Abyss
At the beginning of the film "The Abyss" we can see US nuclear submarine, USS Montana, with ballistic missiles on board. This submarine meets with an unidentified submerged object in Cayman Trough. This meeting is resulted in denial of all systems - electricity, loss of hydraulics. As a result the submarine has crashed into a rock and sank. Soviet submarines were sent to the place of crash to help. However, because of serious shtorm coming to this place a decision was made to create a special operation leading by the SEAL (U.S. Navy SEALs). A goal of the operation is to send special forces to the experimental underwater oil platform, which is the nearest place to the US submarine. The designer of the platform, Dr. Lindsey Brigman (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), wants to help US forces in the operation a proposes the team of platform engineers.
The storm was slowly gaining ground, the base of Americans - a ship "Benthic Explorer" is becoming more dangerous. Tossed by the storm, the Explorer's crane and cable system snap off and fall into the water. The vessel takes to the side and it pulls an attached underwater station to the edge of the basin (The Abyss). Events begin to heat up and become even richer and more interesting.
